Episode 13: Discomfort, Uncertainty and Beginner's Mind
Sep 02, 2020A Baker's Dozen!
I’ve always felt like 13 was a lucky number… In celebration, I’m going solo for this episode to talk about my journey producing a podcast so far, how to embrace being a beginner and move through all the uncertainty and discomfort that goes with it.
I want to talk about reinvention and I want to challenge the idea that as we get older we don’t have as much value to contribute to the world.
That is, in fact, the reason I’m doing this podcast. In the last century or so, older people have been devalued by our society. The whole idea that when you turn 50 you’re “over the hill” just doesn’t ring true to me. Especially now that we’re living longer. Seriously, many of us are going to live into our 80s… so if you’re in your 40s or 50s now, that means you have 30 or 40 years ahead of you. Do you really want to just accept that it’s all downhill from here?
In this episode I mention many of my favorite teachers and resources.
